What’s All this about then?
Headstocks Cinema is Bolsover’s community cinema.
We’re a team of film-loving locals, hosting regular pop-up film screenings in the Assembly Rooms.
What’s with the name?
Being based in a former coal mining town, we’re passionate about showcasing Bolsover’s strong sense of identity.
We want to use our platform to tell important stories that are relevant to the town in which we live.
Yes, we’ll be screening mainstream, blockbuster hits but we also hope to shine a light on other important stories that are relevant to local people.
We’re here to enable the community of Bolsover to engage with film in a cheap, accesible environment. No more driving our of your way, paying a fortune to see your favourite film.
We love films and we want you to love them too. We’ll give you a say in choosing what films we screen with different themes throughout the year. We’re paticularly mindful of using cinema to higlight key, overlooked stories that a relevant to the local area.

So, if I buy a ticket, where does my money go?
All profits go towards future screenings and equipment so that we can continue bringing you exciting films on a regular basis.
As a not-for-profit community cinema, we also rely on larger amounts of funding to keep our screenings going. You can find out more on our Funding page.
